Marjan Šijanec: Khesed-el., 1989, 10’00”
Khesed-el. is an electronic version of the piece Khesed commissioned by the “Studio for percussions” from Ljubljana. The global plan of the piece was conditioned by magic square of number 4 and symbolically connected with the domain of love (the meaning of Khesed in Kabala) and the planet Jupiter. Basic elements of sound have been serialized on the basis of 12 authentic and inversed matrices. Five mutually connected program wholes have been formed on the level of supermixture and represented in two ways: bright – ying and dark – yang. The wholes of the piece are named: Ether, Fire, Earth, Air, and Water. The motto of the composition is a sentence of Bertrand Russel: “It takes a lot of time to find and realize that a pair of pheasants and human lovers are the instances of number 2 only.” The piece was realized by the author.
